Sarah Hoogenraad is a NYC-based playwright and theatre artist.

Sarah Hoogenraad (she/her) is a huge fan of contemporary theatre and comedy, and she loves to be a part of it. She has worked in a whole lot of aspects of the theatre, both onstage and off, and loves creating new works from the ground up. Her plays are all from the female perspective, and she has a lot of passion for writing funny, strong and complicated women.

Her ten minute play This Stop is currently running at Secret Theatre as part of Program C of the Queens Short Play Festival. Recent productions of Sarah’s work include Celebrity Crush: A Killer Comedy at Chain Theatre, directed by Rebecca Wilson and a smash hit at their 2023 Winter One Act Festival, and the play was recently produced again at Hofstra University, directed by Mickey Estrella. She had a staged reading of her full-length play Free Parking at The Tank’s LimeFest in August 2025 and of her play Best Friends/Worst Partners in last year’s festival.

Sarah also has extensive acting experience, most notably at Universal Studios Beijing, Dollywood, The Drama League, The Tank and Chain Theatre.

Sarah has a BFA in Theatre Arts from Hofstra University, and absolutely loves college theatre and the artistic impulses of college students.

All of Sarah’s plays are available to be licensed through her if you ask nicely. Sarah can be contacted through email at friendsnewplay@gmail.com.
